Payment
Payment may be made a month or term in advance or on a 'pay as you go' basis; one may be more convenient than the other and some students choose to swap between the two, depending on the month. I do not discriminate on a 'pay as you go' basis, and so will not charge more for this method of payment. Payment can be made via cheque, cash or PayPal. I will also write a receipt of any payment received. If it is agreed that I will come to the students home to teach, this will incur a small extra fee, in order to contribute towards petrol money if needed, and time taken from other available teaching time slots I may have. The fee is dependent upon distance and time it takes to travel.
Cancellations
I operate a 24 hour cancellation policy. If a lesson is cancelled within the 24 hour period before their lesson students may still be charged for the slot. Students may not be charged if the reason for the cancellation is due to sudden illness, bad weather or other sudden unforseen circumstaces that render charging unreasonable, but lessons will be rearranged where at all possible. Although I do not like charging for time I have not worked, I hope it is understood that this is in place to protect my income, any cost of childcare I have arranged in order to teach, and keep my prices at a competitive rate. Ideally 24 hours notice can be given so I may be able to offer the time slot to anyone who is unable to make their own that week. If I need to cancel a lesson for whatever reason I will always try to rearrange first. If this is not possible because there is no mutual convenient time, I will never charge. I will always give at least 24 hours notice, unless it is not possible as it is an unforseen circumstance.
Exams
I enter students in for exams (if that is what they wish) when I feel they are ready and will pass (I have a 100% pass rate). Payment for these exams will be to me as I enter students in one go, and pay altogether. I do not charge to enter students into exams, the only fee payable is that of the exam cost to ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall. I will pass on confirmation of entry into exams from ABRSM/Trinity before the exam times are allocated. I will notify students theit exam times and venue as soon as I receive the information myself. A separate receipt for the fee will also be written when I receive it. Students who are entered into exams are automatically entered for the ABRSM exams, unless it is requested otherwise.
